Five Fantastic Events in Pembrokeshire this Summer

As visitors descend on the magical coastlines of Pembrokeshire each summer, the county wakes from its sleepy winter slumber and comes to life. There are a number of festivals and events through the summer months that truly showcase some of the fantastic people, businesses and venues in Pembrokeshire. I've listed my top five of the finest here...

Festival of the Sea | Gupton Farm at Freshwater West 

10th-12th May 2019

With the sea surrounding Pembrokeshire, a festival celebrating the coast and all the wonder that it brings comes to Freshwater West this May! With the magical backdrop of Gupton Farm, just a stone’s throw from the famous unspoilt Freshwater West beach, there will be something to see for those of all ages throughout the festivities.  With live music, workshops, classes, outdoor activities and delicious food and drink from local traders, it will be a jam-packed, wonderful weekend. Relax around a campfire, listen to live music as the sun sets over the sea and settle into a weekend celebrating all that is great about the Pembrokeshire coastline.

St. David's Cathedral Festival | St. David’s

24th-31stMay 

The St. David's Cathedral Festival has been bringing world-class music to this corner of Wales for 40 years and hosts a feast of both contemporary and classical music concerts over the Spring Bank Holiday. This year, highlights in the fantastic line up include the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir and the closing event which is a candlelit gala dinner and concert in the Cathedral with catering by St David's Kitchen. Each event in this beautiful, cathedral will be magical, special and something to remember for years to come. It is certainly a very special festival that you’ll find yourself attending year after year.

Pembrokeshire Street Food Festival | Tenby South Beach 

14th-16thJune 

The east end of Tenby South Beach is taken over in an explosion of flavour and fun for a weekend in June. From 12noon until 10 pm visitors to the beach can expect a fabulous array of delicious food, local beers and cocktails. For the food lovers out there this is an event you will not want to miss. Street Food Vendors will be serving up a vast range of wonderful cuisines from Taiwan, Morocco, Malaysia and Greece. There will even be vendors dedicated to serving the trusty Mac and Cheese. The event is free and incredibly family and dog-friendly. A fantastic afternoon for everyone.

Pembrokeshire Fish Week | Across Pembrokeshire 

22nd– 30th June  

This fabulous festival celebrates the very best quality seafood caught locally in Pembrokeshire.  Expect a celebratory atmosphere to spread across the county for the week-long celebration in the form of delicious fish specials in local restaurants, fish demonstrations, fish filleting workshops, seaside foraging and fishing adventures. Here at Penally Abbey, we’ll have a special menu running alongside our Dinner menu for the week which will be showcasing our favourite fish dishes supplied by local fishermen. 

We’ll be sharing more information about events we’ll be holding to celebrate at Penally Abbey and Rhosyn Restaurant over the coming weeks. Keep an eye on our social media!

Pembrokeshire County Show | Haverfordwest 

13th-15thAugust 

The Pembrokeshire County Show is an event that showcases so much of what makes the county such a fabulous place to live, visit and enjoy. Each year the show is jam-packed with fantastic attractions and events and 2019 is of no exception. The three-day event focuses on agriculture, farming and local produce with animals taking centre stage. From cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs and horses, visitors will be able to see some of the county's finest exhibit their talents! If you love countryside tradition, animals and great food then this is an event you won’t want to miss.
